Soccer

Last weekend Jameson had a soccer tournament in Ohio. Evelyn and I stayed home since she had basketball practice and games on Saturday.

Nate kept us up to date on the games and scores. Saturday’s were pretty easy and the team won both. I’m guessing Jameson’s favorite part of the day however was the three hours he spent at the hotel pool that evening with his teammates.

The first game on Sunday was an easy win. The final game of the weekend was the hardest and most evenly matched game. Jameson typically plays goalie for the first half and then rotates in as a field player for the second half. The score was tied 3-3 and Jameson scored the game winning goal to put his team ahead 4-3. Pretty exciting way to end the weekend.

XC and soccer

Last weekend we took a little tour of the state to attend a cross country meet and two soccer games. We woke up early on Saturday to head to Terre Haute for the middle school cross country state meet. Evelyn’s coach could enter up to 10 girls, so he invited the top 10 runners. Evelyn certainly isn’t one of the fastest runners in the state but she held her own and ran her fastest time of the season, 14:05. Team photo! All the boys and girls who came down to run.  The girls lined up in their block before the start.  We left Terre Haute and headed to South Bend where Jameson had two soccer games on Sunday. We original thought we’d split up; Nate and Evelyn would drive to Terre Haute and back on Saturday and Jameson and I would go to South Bend on Sunday. But the more we thought about it, we realized we could get a hotel, save us a little driving and avoid another super early morning.   Jameson was asked to play goalie for the other under 11 team since their goalie was ...

City champs

Cross country season is officially over. Last night was city finals and Blackhawk girls finished first. We took 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th and 10th place. Evelyn ran 14:56, so about 10 seconds off her PR.  She was 32nd overall out of 64 girls.  Her place counted for her team which she was happy about. The boys did good too and finished in second place overall.
