Yesterday

Evelyn and I did pretty much nothing yesterday.  Which I read is exactly what you are supposed to do with a newborn - nothing but feeding and snuggling (and changing diapers and outfits that have been spit-up on).  Which is fine except there's nothing to watch on TV but Will and Grace reruns and then nothing gets done around the house. This is what I told Nate yesterday when he got home.  He assured me that nothing is supposed to get done, but when I was finished with my shower, I find him holding Evelyn with one arm and swiffering with the other.  He also had folded the laundry and washed the dishes.  Wow - I must take really long showers.  But really, it meant a lot that he would do all that housework after his busy day at work. Wide awake Sound asleep Nate would be sad if I didn't post this picture.  Penny tolerates Evelyn very well.

3 weeks

Evelyn turned 3 weeks old yesterday.  Today we went to the doctors office for our weight check.  Evelyn is officially back to her birth weight - 7lbs 2oz  - but the doctor was hoping she'd gain a little bit more.  So Evelyn gets to take Zantac for a while to help her with spitting up and we got a new kind of formula to use at night.  Next week Thursday we go for our one month check-up, so we will see if these changes help her gain more weight. Snuggling with her giraffe Big yawn - time for bed

Tummy Time

Evelyn had some tummy time this morning on her play mat. And then she fell asleep.

A trip

We were at the doctor's office yesterday for another weight check.  Evelyn is up to 6lbs 14oz - so close to her birth weight but not quite there yet.  So we go back next week.  After the doctor's, we dropped the Toyota off for its state inspection and then picked it back up this morning.  And since we all had to up and out the door so early, we decided it would be a good time to bring Evelyn by the VA and meet all the other neuropsychologists.

Another visitor

Evelyn has met two out of three aunts.  Katherine arrived last night from Chicago.  We have mostly just relaxed at home, but Nate did take Kate out back to the creek to see the cows and to practice target shooting.  Evelyn and I stayed home and watched the Jungle Book.

Happy Valentine's Day!

We are on day two of snowmageddon.  Wednesday night into Thursday we got about 15 inches of snow.  So Evelyn wore her Hope onesie to celebrate the Michigan like snowfall. Pretty in pink

One week

Evelyn turned 1 week old on Monday.  At the doctors office yesterday she weighed 6lbs 12 oz, so she is working her way back to her birth weight.  We have had some rough nights, but last night Evelyn woke up to feed and then went right back to sleep (hope I don't jinx us by posting that). One week old. All bundled up for a walk to check the mail. Hanging out with Grandpa.

Evelyn Julianne

Our little girl arrived one week early on Monday February 3rd at 10:54pm.  She weighed 7lb 2oz and was 19.5 inches long.  We brought her home on Wednesday and my parents and sister arrived Thursday to visit and help out.  Evelyn is adorable, sweet natured, and tiny!  None of her clothes fit, not even her newborn sleepers.  Here are some pictures of her first days.
