The Accidental Boilermaker

Evelyn and Jameson had a combined super hero party over the weekend.  We focused on Evelyn's favorite Wonder Woman and Jameson's favorite Spider Man. We had grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup along with some fruit and chips and dip. Super hero water bottles. Super hero comic book decorations. Party favors - Wonder Woman's lasso of truth aka twizzlers. Evelyn and Jameson got lots of presents (it was like Christmas all over again).  A new play kitchen was very exciting along with some super hero dress up capes and masks. New hot wheels toys were also a big hit. The secondary theme of the party was fire trucks.  Mimi made this amazing cake for Jameson. Which he really enjoyed. And he got his own fireman coat and hat along with a big mega block fire truck. Jameson's 2 year check up was this morning. He weighed 27 lb 7 oz (43rd percentile) and 35 inches tall (75th percentile). His percentile for weight dropped a little and his percentile for height went up. Doctor was impressed with Jameson's verbal skills and decided to ask about some 3 year milestones. Did he know his colors (a few) and shapes (I don't think so) but he said to work on them and he might pick them up fast. After the doctor's we went to Bella's house where dress up is always a favorite activity.

Jameson is 2!! He asked for doughnuts for his birthday breakfast, but then couldn't decide if he wanted candles or not.  Once the candles were lit, he acted like he couldn't blow them out.  He was very upset. Thankfully Nate had the idea of helping him with a straw.  He told everyone today how he didn't like the candles and he cried. Finally happy and eating. After breakfast, we headed to Skyzone.  It was Jameson's first time and he definitely was not liking the trampolines.  He didn't really cry, but he made it know that he did not want to jump.  Evelyn loves Skyzone and would have stayed all day. Finally we found something Jameson liked - the foam blocks in the jumping pit.  By the end of our time, he was jumping on the trampoline and then climbing down into the pit by himself. Not even a dead car battery could keep us from Christmas in Michigan (which is what happened, the Mazda wouldn't start so we had repack everything in the Toyota before we could leave town).  But we got there and had lots of fun.  Nate, Evelyn, and Grandpa Paul went ice skating.  Evelyn got to use her new skates.  Nate said the combination of new ice and freshly sharpened skates actually made skating hard for Evelyn, but she still had fun. Grandma Pat, Jameson, and I got to pick up Henry from school and then get a special treat.  Jameson liked to watch Henry play on the ipad.  It's hard to tell but they both are wearing Star Wars shirts. Present time!  Jameson was excited for his new tool box. We went to this fun coffee shop/kids play place for a morning of fun.  All four kids had a blast and entertained themselves for two full hours. Jameson, private eye. We had a nice Christmas.  As a family we opened presents on the 23rd.  Jameson was very excited for his new construction truck. Evelyn got her own pair of ice skates.  Christmas Eve morning we opened stockings.  Jameson enjoyed the cookie crumbs that Santa left behind. Santa brought Evelyn and Jameson each their own sled.  And since we would be driving to Decatur in a snow storm, they didn't have to wait long to use them. Jameson, ready and waiting to drive and see Mimi.   Christmas morning! It was cold, but Christmas day was the warmest it was going to get while we were in Decatur so we took Evelyn and Jameson sledding.   Evelyn loved every minute and would have stayed out for hours I think.  Jameson had fun; he preferred to ride with someone.  Once he got cold, he was done and wanted to go home.
