Fun stuff

Oma and grandpa came for a visit! We did fun stuff like make rice krispie treats and play at the park.  Evelyn and Jameson had their second tennis lesson on Saturday. I got my second covid vaccine in the afternoon. My arm was more sore compared to my first shot and I was really tired that night. Sunday morning I felt achy but nothing awful so I went for a run.  After my shower I gave up, took some ibuprofen, and then I felt just fine.  The zoo opened this weekend too! There’s a whole new herd of spunky goats.  They both got to touch a sting ray.  We saw one Joey out with its momma.  And we saw the penguins eat their dinner.  And finally all the statues are back out.

Butterflies

We saw the butterflies at the botanical gardens after school. Despite a cool, gray day they were very active.

Cousin fun

Amanda, Isaac, and Joshua came down for the last part of spring break. Everyone was so excited to see each other. They woke up at 5:30 Friday morning! But it was ok because they were all just so happy to be together. Nate went to work and after lunch Amanda and I took the kids to a park where they played and we sat in the sun and talked.  Saturday Evelyn and Jameson were supposed to start park district tennis but both instructors were sick so instead they were able to attend their last basketball clinic. It was scrimmage day and it was just so funny to watch 4-7 year olds play a game. Everyone seemed to understand defense but when they were on offense they had no idea what to do. Dribbling was optional often times.  Nate, Amanda and the boys met us after basketball at the park so we could enjoy some outside time before the afternoon rain arrived.  We played lots of board games too. Isaac and Jameson played chess. I taught Isaac and Joshua sushi roll and sushi go. An...

Toledo zoo

Today we went to the Toledo zoo with Bella and Millie. Maryca picked us up and Evelyn and Jameson were so excited to watch a movie in their van.  I am pretty sure we saw the whole zoo. It definitely was hot and the lines were long. All the inside buildings still have occupancy limits and even some of the outside viewing areas. We waited 30 minutes to get in the aquarium and I don’t know how long to see the gorillas but to be fair there was a baby and toddler gorilla so I don’t blame people for not wanting to leave.  I think everyone got to see what they wanted to see. Only Millie fell asleep on the way home.

Spring break

It’s the first day of spring break. Mimi left to go back home.  We ran some errands after lunch. Jameson fell and scraped his knee good. I didn’t have any bandaids, but I did have a disposable mask. It worked well enough to run into the dollar store for bandaids.  At the library we got this fun sign for our yard.  When Nate got home we went for a bike ride.

Happy Easter

We had a really nice Easter weekend. Mimi came over on Friday and we watched our church’s Good Friday service online. Saturday morning Evelyn and Jameson had their basketball clinic and we dyed Easter eggs. I also got my first covid vaccine! We decided to have our Easter dinner on Saturday so on Sunday we could eat leftovers. We also were able to watch Mimi’s church’s online Easter service.  Sunday was a beautiful day. We watched our church and then my parents’ church. We played outside and had an Easter egg hunt. Jameson even taught Mimi how to play chess.
