Girls on the Run final 5K was last Sunday. Boy was it hot! Overall it felt like the 5K went really well. It was well attended which meant we took over the park. Overwhelmed maybe is a better world. We could have had more water, but Nate, who was so helpful and worked the water station filling cups, said they never ran out of water. Due to circumstances outside GOTR’s control, I spent the 5K lugging 5 gallon igloo containers up a hill to a park shelter (not particularly close to the race), filling them with water and then bringing them back down on repeat for the duration of the race. But it’s important to remember the final 5K is scheduled way in advance and it can be cool in May too. This time it was hot. Anyway, the event is way different when you work for the organization instead of just being a volunteer. I’m learning lots. Evelyn and her friend Maddy.
