Our last full day of camping. The day before had been a long day; my watch said we walked 9 miles. So we were all tired. But Thursday was the day we planned to hike from the lower fall to the upper falls which the map said was 4 miles. We would then take the shuttle back.
The hike started off well. It was a little buggy but the hike was challenging which usually holds Evelyn and Jameson’s attention. But then Jameson got impatient, pushed ahead of Evelyn, stepped in some mud and lost his shoe. He didn’t really shake his bad mood until we made it to the upper falls. And 4 miles is long time to hike if you’re grumpy.
But we made it! I think I like the lower falls better. Instead of one big waterfall, there’s several and you can play in the water. But the upper falls are pretty amazing.
We shuttled back to our campground. Since we were the only people in the van, the driver dropped us off right at our tent. We made lunch and relaxed. We forced Jameson to take a shower because we were going to a restaurant for dinner.
Dinner was good. We all got burgers. At the upper falls, Jameson asked a DNR guy where to find a good fishing spot. He recommended two places near by. The first place Evelyn caught a nice perch but it slipped out of her hand before I could get a picture. The next place everyone was very successful. Evelyn caught several bluegill.
Jameson caught his first catfish and he was so happy. It was his highlight of the trip. He then proceeded to catch 4 more. Nate, while not thrilled, was happy Jameson was so happy.
