boo boos

I think I broke my toe. I stubbed it really bad and it hurts alot. Nate fell off his bike today (his old bike, not the nice one) and scrapped up his knee. Owie : (

"That's disgusting. You shouldn't be that healthy."

That's what Nate said after I told him the results from my wellness screening. Similarly, my mom told me I was "disgustingly healthy." My resting blood pressure was 94/58. My resting heart rate was 52. I fasted for 12 hours so my glucose and cholesterol would be more accurate. My blood sugar was 87 (for a fasting value it should be less than 100). My total cholesterol was 188 (less than 200 is ideal) and my HDL cholesterol was 69! For women, their HDL should be above 45, but the higher the better. I was quite pleased, plus it was a free screening through the Purdue wellness program. My piece of advice - take responsibility for your health and know your numbers.

Dilemma

Bonnie Hunt has a new talk show at 10am. I like Bonnie Hunt, I think she's pretty funny. The problem is I typically watch Martha Stewart at 10am. My Tuesday/Thursday morning routine starts out with a run, followed by catching the end of GMA if I run fast enough. Then I shower through Rachael Ray because she is only tolerable in small amounts. While attempting some homework, I watch Martha and then eat lunch through Ellen before reluctantly biking into campus. Nate is already at school, so that's how I get away with all this. Do I switch to Bonnie Hunt? While Martha Stewart is incredibly self-obessesed and demonstates impossible to replicate crafts and meals, she does have some pretty cool stuff on her show. The other day I learned about the cherry blossoms in Washington DC (obviously a re-run, but cool nonetheless). I also feel like I know more about flower arrangements now. I'm not sure I'm ready to give all that up. Some of you may think I'm making too ...

just another day

We went to Subway for dinner tonight because we have no food at our apt and we have lots of coupons to Subway. We came home and I said, "Lets watch World News Tonight and then we'll start homework at 7:00." At the end of the news, Nate looks longingly at the TV screen and says, "Don't go Charlie Gibson." Maybe you had to be there, but homework on a Friday night is a sad, sad thing.

Pisto manchego with eggs

Pisto is Spain's ratatouille - a savory mixture of summer squash, onions, garlic, and tomatoes. We served ours over toasted French bread and opened our bottle of German wine. For an appetizer, we roasted garlic and spread it on the bread too. Delicioso.

and they lived happily ever after (part 3)

Here are some pictures from Angie and Andy's wedding this weekend in Indianapolis. the beautiful bride and groom me and nate taking silly pictures daniel and amber dancing And thus concludes my picture repertoire of summer weddings. I don't know of any upcoming fall weddings, so it might be awhile before I showcase another gallery of fine nuptial photography.

For those who care

I changed Nate's blog link on the left hand side of my blog. I did this for several reasons: His old blog was boring and he never updated. His original biking blog was deleted by the blogspot spam bot (single tear). I can no longer pretend that this whole biking thing is just a phase (which actually is a good thing because that bike was not cheap). So to all, enjoy the biking misadventures and animal wildlife of West Lafayette as told by Nathan DeYoung.
