The Accidental Boilermaker

Jameson turned one week old yesterday.  He continues to be a pretty mellow baby.  He nurses well and is sleeping about 2.5-3 hour stretches a night.  He is starting to be more alert during the day too which is fun.

Our little boy was born January 20th at 8:37 pm!  Four days after his due date, but a day before the induction (phew!).  He weighed 8 lb 6 oz and was 21.25 inches long. Contractions started around 11:00 am although I wasn't convinced they were real.  My mom told me to have Meredith come back from South Bend at 12:30 and around 1:00 we decided Nate should come home from work.  Finally a little after 7:00 we decided we needed to leave for the hospital which was good because from the time we arrived to when Jameson was born was only 30 minutes.   Evelyn was so excited when she first saw her brother.  She kept repeating "Look, it's a baby!" We finally got to leave late Friday night.  We received wonderful care at the hospital and all the nurses were fabulous, but we were all ready to go home. Meredith came over for the day and we went to the downtown library because I heard they had a really nice children's area.  Which they do; Evelyn seemed to have lots of fun. The resource room is quite big and geared toward kids 6 and under. Evelyn liked the blocks and train set. The puzzles were a lot of fun too. After the library, we got coffee and a treat while Evelyn read her library books. This afternoon was my 40 week appointment.  Baby is still happy and healthy, which is very good, but if nothing changes, Nate and I will go to the hospital Friday at 5am for me to be induced.

Baby is still hanging in there, although I do appreciate that he/she did not come while we had this snowy weather.  Doctor said today everything looked and sounded good but if baby doesn't come by January 22nd, he will induce me that Friday. Our fun activity today was pedicures!  And going to Kroger because we were seriously low on supplies.

Evelyn and I went to toddler time at Skyzone with Maryca and Bella.  So for one hour the trampolines are limited to kids 5 and under.  It was a lot of fun and not too pricey because since parents don't jump, they get in for free.  The staff are pretty strict about the rules, which is good, but the girls really wanted to bounce together and there's only supposed to be one person per square. You're also not supposed to use your phone while on the trampolines, but I got a few pictures. Evelyn really liked jumping into the foam pit.  I was worried she'd get stuck and I'd have to get Maryca to rescue her, but Evelyn never ventured that far and was always able to pull herself out. Toward the end, the girls just goofed around and bounced off the walls.  

I finished the baby's blanket a while ago, but I never posted a picture.  It was quick and easy, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Last week at the library, I came across a book of granny squares that I thought would be fun to check out.  I've wanted for a long time to make a scrap afghan and I thought this ferris wheel square would be a good way to use up leftover yarn.  My problem is I want to use all the same brand of yarn (Vanna's Choice) so my squares will be equal size and I've realized I really don't have as much scrap yarn as I thought.  And I want to make an equal number of solid and two color squares.  So this will definitely be a project I will work on in bits and pieces.   There was one other pattern in the book that I really liked.  I went back and forth about buying the yarn, starting a whole new project, etc. but finally decided today to go for it.  The lady at Michael's teased me about starting a blanket with a ...

38 week appointment today.  Still all good news - good heart rate, good blood pressure, baby is head down.  I finally remembered to see how much Evelyn weighs too.  She is 26#.  After my appointment, we had lunch with Nate in his office. Evelyn's sleep kicker arrived.  She was so excited to wear it to bed.  I really really hope it keeps her from waking up in the middle of the night.  Once the baby arrives, getting up for one kid will be enough.
